La boda tendrá lugar el día sábado 16 de marzo de 2019, en las playas de Tulum. Sin embargo, empezaremos la celebración los días previos y la extenderemos por unos días más con quienes tengan el arrojo suficiente para disfrutar con nosotros de los encantos de la Riviera Maya.

De ceremonie vindt plaats op zaterdag 16 maart 2019, op het strand van Tulum. We zullen de viering echter de vorige dagen beginnen en we zullen het nog een paar dagen verlengen met degenen die genoeg moed hebben om met ons de charmes van de Riviera Maya te genieten.

The wedding ceremony will take place on Saturday, March the 16th 2019, on the beaches of Tulum. However, we will begin the celebration the previous days and extend it through the following ones with those of you interested on discovering and sharing the marvels of the Mayan Riviera with us.

TRAVEL TO TULUM
¿CÓMO LLEGAR?
Tulum es un pequeño poblado costero del Estado de Quintana Roo, sobre el mar Caribe, ubicado 120 kilómetros al sur del aeropuerto internacional de Cancún, desde el cual se accede por vía terrestre. En la organización de su viaje, les sugerimos volar a Cancún (CUN) y desde allí, tomar un transporte terrestre hacia Tulum. Pueden optar por un transporte público (taxi, bus) o rentar un automóvil. El trayecto desde el aeropuerto hasta Tulum toma alrededor de una hora y treinta minutos, por una autopista de alta velocidad que se encuentra en muy buen estado y está bien señalizada. Sin embargo, si van a rentar un vehículo les recomendamos tomarlo con GPS para que puedan ubicarse más fácilmente.
RENTA DE AUTOMÓVILES
En el aeropuerto de Cancún hay oficinas de las franquicias principales (Hertz, Budget, Avis, Thrifty, etc). Les recomendamos verificar si tienen descuento con alguna de ellas como parte de los beneficios de sus programas de viajero frecuente o de sus tarjetas de crédito. En cualquier caso, hemos negociado unas tarifas preferenciales con Hertz para nuestros invitados, las cuales pueden obtener a través del correo bodamymcaribe@gmail.com. TRANSPORTE LOCAL
Los desplazamientos al interior de Tulum se pueden hacer en automóvil, en bicicleta o a pie. Tengan en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones en función del tipo de transporte que elijan: 1) Si circulan en automóvil: tengan siempre presente que compartirán las vías con ciclistas y peatones, por lo cual es conveniente rodar a baja velocidad, particularmente en las noches. Sepan además que no siempre es fácil encontrar estacionamientos y que los locales cobran caro por los espacios disponibles; 2) Si circulan en bicicleta: La mayoría de los alojamientos rentan bicicletas por el día, sin embargo cuentan con unidades limitadas. Conviene por tanto reservarlas desde el día anterior. Si van a circular de día, deben considerar llevar consigo protector solar e hidratación. Si van a circular de noche, conviene llevar alguna luz de seguridad o reflectivo. Día o noche, siempre deben llevar consigo un candado para amarrar la bicicleta; 3) Si circulan a pie: confirmen previamente la distancia hasta su destino, para que no se lleven sorpresas. Además del protector solar y alguna bebida hidratante, prevean llevar consigo zapatos cómodos.
Los taxis son fáciles de conseguir a cualquier hora aunque pueden tardarse más en las noches.
CONECTIVIDAD
La mayoría de los hoteles y restaurantes ofrecen conexión a Internet de manera gratuita. Si requieren de conectividad permanente o desean utilizar sus teléfonos móviles como GPS, les recomendamos adquirir a su llegada una tarjeta sim mexicana. Se pueden recargar muy fácilmente en las estaciones de servicio y en las tiendas OXXO. ¡Así podrán además comunicarse más fácilmente con nosotros!
ALOJAMIENTO
Tulum es, hoy por hoy, uno de los principales destinos de la Riviera Maya, por lo que es fácil conseguir alojamientos de todo tipo. Nuestra sede de la boda será el Papaya Playa Project, hotel con el que hemos convenido algunas tarifas especiales para nuestros invitados. HORARIO DE LOS ESTABLECIMIENTOS COMERCIALES
Algunas cocinas abren desde temprano en la mañana para atender desayunos y la mayoría cierra hacia las 11:00 PM. El comercio suele estar abierto hasta la misma hora. Los bares y lugares de fiesta funcionan hasta las 3:00 AM.
FORMAS DE PAGO Y PROPINAS
Los pagos se pueden hacer en pesos mexicanos o en dólares americanos, sin embargo la tasa de cambio que aplican las casas de cambio y los comercios locales es poco beneficiosa para quien paga en dólares. Deben saber además que buena parte de los establecimientos comerciales sólo recibe efectivo. Por lo tanto, les recomendamos comprar pesos mexicanos a su llegada a Cancún.
En general, la propina no está incluida en la cuenta. La propina de base es el 10%. Se acostumbra dejar el 15% si el servicio ha sido bueno y el 20% si ha sido sobresaliente.
HOE AAN TE KOMEN IN TULUM?
Tulum is een klein kustplaatsje in de staat Quintana Roo, aan de Caribische Zee, 120 kilometer ten zuiden van de internationale luchthaven van Cancun, van waaruit het land te bereiken is. In de organisatie van uw reis, raden wij u aan naar Cancun (CUN) te vliegen en vanaf daar een transport naar Tulum te nemen. Ze kunnen kiezen voor het openbaar vervoer (taxi, bus) of een auto huren. De reis van het vliegveld naar Tulum duurt ongeveer een uur en dertig minuten, door een snelweg met hoge snelheid die zich in een zeer goede staat bevindt en goed bewegwijzerd is. MUNTEN EN TIPS
In Tulum accepteren dollars en Mexicaanse pesos, maar het is veel handiger om te betalen in pesos. Op de meeste plaatsen moet je contant betalen, dus we raden je aan geld te wisselen op de luchthaven. HOW TO GET TO TULUM?
Tulum is a small village in the State of Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean shore, located 120 kilometers south of Cancun´s international airport. In organizing your trip, we suggest that you fly to Cancun (CUN) and then take ground transportation to Tulum. You can take public transportation (bus, taxi) or opt to rent a car. The journey from the airport to Tulum takes about an hour and thirty minutes on a high speed highway which is in very good condition and well signposted. Nonetheless, if you decide to rent a vehicle, we recommend that you take GPS along with it.
CAR RENTAL
At Cancun´s airport you´ll find offices of all the main car rental franchises (Hertz, Budget, Avis, Thrifty, etc). We recommend that you check beforehand if you can get some discount at any of them with your frequent flyer programs or credit card benefits. LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
Trips within Tulum can be done by car, on bicycle or by foot. Take into account the following recommendations depending on the type of transportation you choose: 1) If you drive: keep in mind that you will be sharing the road with cyclists and pedestrians, so it is convenient to drive at low speed, particularly at night. Also note that it is not always easy to find parking places and locals charge heavily for the available spots; 2) If you bicycle: Most accommodations rent bicycles for the day, however they have limited units. It is therefore convenient to book them the previous day. During the day, you should consider bringing sunscreen and water with you. At night, it is best to use lighting or reflective devices. Always carry a padlock for securing your bike; 3) If you walk: confirm the distance to your destination. Do not forget to wear sunscreen and carry water with you. Also, wear comfortable shoes.
Taxis are usually easy to find. Although, it can get difficult some times at nightime.
CONNECTIVITY
Most hotels and restaurants offer Internet connection free of charge. If you require permanent connectivity or wish to use your mobile phones as travel guides or GPS, we recommend that you purchase a mexican sim-card upon arrival. They can be recharged very easily at fuel stations and OXXO stores. That way we can keep in touch with you more easily!
ACCOMMODATION
Tulum is, nowadays, one of the main destinations of the Riviera Maya, so it is easy to find all sorts of accommodation. Our wedding venue will be the Papaya Playa Project, hotel that has arranged some special rates for our guests. You can get them online by typing the promo-code MEZCAL on the corporate box or request them by email to weddings@papayaplayaproject.com. Anyways, let us know where you are going to stay so we can keep track of you!
OPENING HOURS
Some kitchens open early in the morning for breakfast and most close around 11:00 PM. Shops are usually open until the same time. Bars and night spots operate until 3:00 AM.
PAYMENT AND TIPS
Payments can be made in mexican pesos or american dollars. However the exchange rate applied by local businesses is hardly beneficial for those who use dollars. Please note that a large portion of commercial establishments only receive cash. Therefore, we recommend that you buy mexican pesos upon arrival at the airport.
Tips are usually not included in the bill. It is customary to tip 10% if the service has been average, 15% if the service has been good and 20% if it has been outstanding.
PRE/POST TOURS
Esta será la agenda de los novios para los días anteriores y posteriores a la ceremonia. Bienvenidos todos aquellos que quieran sumarse a nuestro itinerario, por su propia cuenta y riesgo. La intención es que tengamos ocasión de compartir con ustedes la mayor cantidad de tiempo y experiencias posibles y; que ustedes puedan aprovechar al máximo su estadía y llevarse un lindo recuerdo de su paso por la Riviera Maya.

La Riviera Maya plantea infinitas posibilidades para los visitantes. A continuación, algunos de los imprescindibles, por áreas temáticas:

Sitios arqueológicos: se dirigen ustedes hacia la cuna de una de las grandes civilizaciones prehispánicas, donde se han hecho algunos de los principales hallazgos arqueológicos del mundo. Aquí nuestros recomendados, organizados según cercanía: 1) Tulum: A escasos metros de nuestro hotel sede, sobre un acantilado, se encuentran los vestigios de la antigua ciudad portuaria de Zamá (amanecer en Maya), un complejo amurallado de singular belleza y enorme importancia estratégica para la defensa y el comercio del pueblo Maya; 2) Cobá: perdida entre la selva yucateca se alza la ciudadela de Co-bah, que alguna vez fuera el centro comercial principal en la península de Yucatán. La ciudadela hace honor a su nombre, que traduce “agua abundante”, pues está rodeada de hermosos lagos y cenotes; 3) Chichen-Itzá: Declarada patrimonio de la humanidad en 1988, la ciudadela constituye una de las maravillas del mundo Maya. En los días cercanos al equinoccio de primavera (20 de marzo) una serpiente se desliza por la pirámide de Kukulkán. ¡Imperdible!

Parques Temáticos: Los hay para todos los gustos y edades; aquí, nuestros favoritos: 1) Xcaret: construido en torno a una ruina maya que lleva el mismo nombre, el parque ofrece atracciones selváticas, marítimas y subterráneas. También, una fiesta nocturna con las tradiciones más representativas de los diferentes estados mexicanos; 2) Xel-ha: su nombre traduce “lugar donde nace el agua”. Es un lugar excepcional para hacer snorkel, recorridos en kayak y senderismo; 3) Xplor: adrenalina y diversión en la selva. El parque ofrece recorridos en canopy y al interior de grutas. Es conocido además por su show de fuego; 4) Xenotes: El parque ofrece un recorrido entre 4 cenotes conectados por un río.

Cenotes: la mejor explicación proviene de su nombre original dzoonot, que significa “hoyo de agua”. Son estructuras geomorfológicas típicas de la península de Yucatán, interconectadas entre sí y con el mar, inundadas de agua salobre. Son lugares de enorme belleza natural, que constituyen ecosistemas únicos. Los hay de tres tipos, abiertos, semiabiertos y subterráneos o de gruta. ¡Excelentes para visitar o para ir a bucear!

Archaeological sites: you are heading towards the cradle of one of the great pre-hispanic civilizations, where some of the main archaeological sites have been made. Next, our top priorities, organized according to their proximity: 1) Tulum: A few meters from Papaya Playa Project, on a cliff, are the vestiges of the ancient port city of Zama (dawn in Maya), a walled complex of singular beauty and enormous importance for the defense and commerce of the Mayan people; 2) Coba: lost between the jungle of Yucatan stands the citadel of Co-bah, which once was the main commercial center in the Yucatan peninsula. The place lives up to its name, which translates "abundant water", because it is surrounded by many lakes and cenotes. 3) Chichen-Itza: Declared a world heritage site in 1988, it is one of the wonders of the Mayan world. In the days near the spring equinox (March 20), a giant snake slides down from the top of the pyramid of Kukulkan.

Theme Parks: there are for all tastes and ages; here, our favorites: 1) Xcaret: built around Mayan ruin bearing the same name, the park offers jungle, marine and underground attractions. Also, a night feast through the traditions of the different Mexican states; 2) Xel-ha: its name translates "place where the water is born". It is an exceptional place for snorkeling, kayaking and hiking; 3) Xplor: adrenaline and fun in the jungle. The park offers canopy and speleology tours. It is also known for its fire show; 4) Xenotes: The park offers a route between 4 cenotes connected by a river.

Cenotes: the best explanation comes from its original name dzoonot, which means "hole of water". They are geomorphological structures typical of the Yucatan peninsula, interconnected with each other and with the sea, flooded with brackish water. They are places of enormous natural beauty and constitute unique ecosystems. There are three types, open, semi-open and underground. Excellent for visiting or diving!

1) ¿Cuál es el código de vestimenta para la boda? Formal de playa o "chic décontracté". Atuendos elegantes pero cómodos, aptos para la playa. Se sugieren vestidos de colores claros para las damas y guayaberas para los caballeros.
2) ¿Cuál es el código de vestimenta para el coctel de bienvenida? Será una noche blanca, el único requisito es ir vestido de blanco.
3) ¿Por qué hay dos botones de RSVP en la página web? Ofreceremos un coctel de bienvenida para todos nuestros invitados el día anterior a la boda. Sin embargo, habrá algunos que tal vez no alcancen a llegar a tiempo para asistir al coctel, razón por la cual les agradecemos confirmar su asistencia a cada uno.
4) ¿En qué consisten los pre/post tours? Son actividades de medio día o día entero que les proponemos hacer juntos a aquellos que lleguen con algunos días de anticipación o se queden algunos días después de la boda, para disfrutar de los atractivos de la zona. Son optativos y cada cual corre con sus gastos.

1) What is the dress code for the wedding? "Chic décontracté". Elegant but comfortable attire, suitable for the beach. Light colored dresses are suggested for the ladies and guayaberas for the gents.
2) What is the dress code for the welcome cocktail? It will be a white night, the only requirement is to dress in white.
3) Why are there two RSVP boxes on the web page? We will offer a welcome cocktail for all our guests the day before the wedding. However, some of you may not be able to get there on time for the cocktail, so we ask that you RSVP both independently.
4) What are the pre/post tours about? They correspond to half day or full day activities that we would like to share with those of you who manage to spend a few extra days in Tulum before or after the wedding. Strictly optional and self financed.
5) Is there a wedding registry? For the moment, we have selected some articles at LE CREUSET and at DEIMOS gallery, in the city of Bogotá.
